I always ask myself, "What would the nuns say?"
Probably "Shock horror." In games, as in life, I think the guys should have to work really hard for a peek. just flashing and flaunting it around is demeaning. Should only be as a MOD, easter egg, or earned after long hours playing 'Realistic' . And THEN only after weeks of rumour, red herrings, innuendo and speculation all over the World Wide Web. |

I don't think simulated tits would change anything in my gaming experience, so I'm just neutral.
I guess all you need to know is that I'm not offended. The publisher might get quite pissed though. -------------------- |

Make two versions. A censored version for "the land of the free" and an uncensored version (with boobs!!) for the EU (and probably the rest of the world, excluding Australia).
I'm lazy, I don't want to work for my pixelated boobies |

If the game is to be aimed at a mature audience it isn't such a big deal, but adding topless babes will without doubt attract young male players in droves (quite sad really

It doesn't bother me one bit. I'll buy the game either way. I'm certainly not offended by either male or female nudity in games. How can I want to go around shooting and knifing people and yet be offended by the human form. Bah, old, tired, argument, but valid to me nonetheless. Essentially if the target audience is adults, and the nudity is there for a reason (nude beach, bathing, etc.) and not just adolescent fan play, then I'm all for it. The again, adolescent fan play wouldn't bother me either as long as it doesn't reduce my immersion in the game.
I suspect it's probably a bad idea for U.S. release though. It'll bug me if there's two versions although that's probably the best route. But knowing my version is censored would irritate me no end. I just purchased the U.K. import of The Witcher for that reason. It's not that I'm desperate for nudity in games, and mods would eventually restore such things, I simply cringe at the thought of buying, and thereby supporting, censorship in games developed for adults, an already underserved market. |

i work at a game store, for alot of parents, including my own, they dont want to buy games with nudity in it. theyre fine with violence, language, and gore. but no nudity.
the way i see it: leaving it in wont draw people to the game, but it will draw some away. i dont really think anyone who has two games in their hand and is trying to decide what to buy is gonna go with this one just cuz it has a topless girl in it. -------------------- |

Цитата leaving it in wont draw people to the game Few will buy directly for the topless girl, but it is very well possible that the topless girl will bring in extra publicity (review mentions, controversy, whatever).I don't think a few breasts will drastically alter sales, by and by. Some are lost, some are gained. Besides, I think we as fans should sooner concern ourselves with what makes the game better or worse then with questions about sales ;) In that vein, I find it nice if a mature game does not treat me as a child (a trend I personally find rather weird). Simple facts of life should not be muffled away without reason. And I don't make exeptions for eroticism and sexuality in broad (which are the real issues here, I suspect). These are very simple things that play very basic roles in our everyday lives. Should something in a game stimulate a person in such a way, then I can not really pass judgement over his or her experience. I just hope it inriches their lives in some way - which it very well can. To the matter at hand: Women have breasts and sometimes attend the beach topless. If such particular situations feature in the game, and it aims to a mature audiance, the decission should be entirely with the designers and what they want to achieve. At the same time I'd like to stress that there's quite the difference between 'mature' and 'juvenile'. As I said 'Simple facts of life should not be muffled away without reason', they shouldn't be exaggerated or highlighted without reason either. Please apply common sense liberally, and keep the focus where it belongs :D -------------------- |

Nudity of any kind can add a lot of realism to the game if done tastefully. Besides women fought really hard for the right to walk around topless in my country. (Canada) ...their argument was if men can do it they should be able to also. And as i man i'm certainly ok with that

I think the real question should be does it help bring the player into the world you've created. First person prespective is all about being immersied into the game, more so than any other genre. We want to feel like we're the person saving all these people, which is why most companies choose to make the player silent. If you feel like in the world of White Gold that woman is topless because she feels safe and secure about being that way at that spot then right on. I don't think it's really is a matter of if we want to see them, because we can see them a million times over on other sites. From my point of view after picking up Boiling point the main selling point of the game is being dropped into this world where everyone is living and you're just a spec of dust ready to get caught in the gears of the world's fan and blow it to pieces. Women do go topless at beaches, it's a natural fact and if you think your world is based of realistic settings than nudity should be ok.
Another thing to keep in mind is rating. With the american rating system you might be looking at a strict M or AO rating if you include that. For some reason Nudity is ok, Violence is ok, but nudity and violence makes it AO. I'd love to see a company push them and tell them there's no reason we can't have both, but in the end they always censor. Justin |

Nudity for nudity will add nothing really interesting to the game. It will draw attention though, obviously.
In the Witcher for instance, there's at least one "nude woman" (the dryad and after that several that you may actually see in underwear, apart from the beautiful "sex" cards). It's fun and a bit surprising (but logical for a dryad) when you see it the first time, but it's nothing which matters seriously. Also, in The Witcher, though "nude scenes" are not difficult to find, it's not always automatic. Technically, it's a game in the game. Imho, you shall add erotism in White Gold, at certain times, though you shall avoid crude and free nudity. Erotism, and a storyline with it, will perhaps obliges you to have a mature rating, which is embarrassing only for US market (if i'm not wrong)... Your last two "babe under the sun" screenshots already gave birth to many comments, not always positive as you may guess. If it sticks with the background of some place in the game, if it's not exagereted, if it's fun (cutscenes, seducing a women to infiltrate a place, minigame of seduction, ... ?) people will relatively appreciate it. If not, you'll get mostly negative results as many will think for instance that you hide potential "weakness" of the game. |

Anyway, the topless girl is reason of addition quest for main hero, and probably you'll never see that quest in western game edition. The set of babes screenshots is a wish to try public attention and reaction and get a feedback. I guess, we have one for now. -------------------- |
